Passionate about protecting the environment, Redcar MP Jacob Young believes that tackling climate change can go hand-in-hand with supporting the UK’s economy – particularly in light of Covid-19, which presents the UK with an opportunity to create a strategy for a green economic recovery.
Also wanting to ensure his constituents have skilled, well-paid jobs in developing sectors, for Young hydrogen technology fits this brief perfectly.
With Tees Valley and the North East producing 50% of the UK’s hydrogen, Young highlighted how important a hydrogen sector is to Redcar and the wider Teeside region.
It was for these reasons that Young took on the role of Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Hydrogen nearly six months ago.
