Electric Power Development Co., Ltd has announced a pilot project which will produce hydrogen gas from brown coal gasification at Latrobe Valley of Victoria, Australia.
The pilot project will include the demonstration of brown coal gasification and gas-refining, hydrogen liquefaction, shipbuilding and operation of a specialised hydrogen carrier.
J-Power will contribute to the sustainable utilisation of brown coal in Australia and the establishment of a hydrogen society through the project.
The project is supported by industry players such as Iwatani, Hydrogen Engineering Australia, Shell Japan and the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy.
