Italy has had plans to invest €550m ($595m) to support the use of renewable hydrogen in industrial processes approved by the European Commission.
The scheme, under the Italian National Recovery and Reliance Plan (PNRR), will support investments to enable the substitution of methane and other fossil fuels with renewable hydrogen.
Set to take the form of direct grants, the measure will be open to companies “relying” on the use of fossil fuels as an energy source of feedstock for their production processes in industrial sectors across Italy.
