A hydrogen-powered fuel cell truck developed by Isuzu Motors and Honda Motor hit public roads in Japan for demonstration testing at the end of December (2023).
The GIGA FUEL CELL 25-tonne heavy-duty truck utilises four 103kW Honda solid polymer fuel cells. With storage for 56kg of hydrogen, filled at 700 bar, Isuzu validation anticipates the vehicle will boast a range of over 800km.
Set be tested until September this year (2024) in the Tochigi, Saitama, Tokyo and Kanagawa prefectures, the prototype is hoped to inform the design of a full production model which Isuzu and Honda hope to introduce in 2027.
