The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has approved a $400m loan to support the development of the Chilean hydrogen industry.
Expected to be used to finance new green hydrogen projects, develop domestic demand, human capital formation, creation of intermediate goods, finance applied research, technological innovation and promote entrepreneurship, the loan seeks to help decarbonise Chile’s economy and generate new economic opportunities.
Chile has one of the highest carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per capita in South America, according to the World Bank, similar to those of industrialised European countries.
