Intelligent Energy expands to Japan through partnership with Intralink

Intelligent Energy will begin marketing its hydrogen technologies in Japan after securing a new partnership with Intralink.

The British fuel cell developer wants to grow its existing markets and promote its fuel cell products that range from 800W to multi-megawatt scale in the region.

Collaborating with Japanese firm Intralink will allow Intelligent Energy to enter the Japanese market – a “prime target for hydrogen innovations” according to Intralink.

Intelligent Energy’s Chief Commercial Officer, Greg Harris, said, “Japan has one of the fastest developing hydrogen economies in the world, so we look forward to working closely with Intralink to grow all aspects of our business in the region from material handling and automotive to aerospace and standby power.”

In July (2024), Intelligent Energy announced it would open a £7.1m ($9.1m) 1.3MW fuel cell testing facility in the UK next year, to support developments for aerospace and automotive industries.

The facility, located at the Chelveston Renewable Energy Park in Northamptonshire, will allow the company to test 1.3MW of fuel cells simultaneously, as it plans to expand its product line and customer support.

Like Intelligent Energy, BayoTech entered an agreement with Intralink in 2020 to help strengthen its position in the Japanese hydrogen market.
