INOCEL and Equans to deliver hydrogen energy solutions from 2025

INOCEL and Equans have agreed to provide hydrogen energy storage and generation solutions from 2025 to a variety of applications, ranging from 300kW to several megawatts.

Under the new partnership, INOCEL will provide the fuel cell for a hydrogen generation component, while Equans will handle containerisation. For customers requiring a complete hydrogen production, storage and power generation solution, the two companies will combine their expertise and leverage their partner networks.

In terms of applications, the product provided by the two French firms could electrify docks to limit greenhouse gas emissions in ports and provide a decarbonised powertrain and electricity generation for ships.

Additionally, the solution could store intermittent renewable energies in hydrogen form for on-demand use and support load shedding and power grid balancing.

The two companies also stated they can provide emergency power generation for industrial and commercial infrastructures such as data centres, hospitals, operational buildings and banks. Furthermore, mobile generators for off-grid sites are another area the partnership can assist in.

“The collaboration between INOCEL and Equans enables us to offer our customers energy storage and generation solutions that combine performance, cost-competitiveness and decarbonisation of activities,” explained Jules Billiet, CEO of INOCEL.

Jérôme Stubler, the President and Equans, added, “Hydrogen must play a key role in the energy transition, and we see immense potential in its development to decarbonize industry and mobility.”
