Indonesia aims to be global hub for ammonia

Indonesia is setting its sights on becoming a world ammonia hub and stepping up technological and industrial collaboration efforts.

PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) Indonesia Marketing Director Ir Gusrizal said that in order to achieve its international aspirations it needs to strengthen human resources to ensure it is aligned with the development of the infrastructure and commercial market.

Gusrizal also hopes for government incentives to develop clean ammonia, which complements Indonesia’s energy transition program and targets for Net Zero Emissions by 2060.

In 2030 green ammonia production will reach 0.99 million tonnes, blue ammonia 2.15 million tonnes and production of gray ammonia (a raw material for fertiliser) 7 million tonnes. The production target for blue ammonia in 2040 will increase again to 3.46 million tonnes.
