India’s second green hydrogen auction has received 14 bids to receive government funding for a combined 626,500 tonnes per year, despite being capped at 450,000.
Tranche-II of the nation’s Incentive Scheme for Green Hydrogen Production will offer producers a three-year incentive with caps set at $0.61/kg in the first year, $0.49/kg in the second and $0.37/kg in the third.

Companies including AM Green Ammonia (AMG), Avaada GreenH2, Oriana Power and Reliance Green Hydrogen and Green Chemicals, amongst others, have all issued a Request for Selection (RfS).
AMG, Green Infra, L&T Energy Green Tech, Reliance and Waaree Clean Energy Solution have all submitted the highest bids for hydrogen production capacity, at 9,000 tonnes per year.
H2 View understands that the programme will offer funding under two “buckets”: technology-agnostic pathways for 410,000 tonnes per year, and biomass-based pathways for 40,000 tonnes per year.
The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) will oversee the bidding process, with bidders ranked on the average incentive cost over three years, with capacity planned to be allocated to bidders from the lowest average incentive to the highest.
There was also an oversubscription of around 100,000 tonnes of hydrogen per year in the first tranche of funding, which saw a combined capacity of 450,000 tonnes per year secured average incentives of $0.48/kg.
Last September, the Indian Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, claimed he’s focused on making India a global hub for the production, utilisation and export of green hydrogen.
