Hyphen Hydrogen Energy and the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) plan to enter into a loan agreement to fund the development of Hyphen’s $10bn Namibian green hydrogen project.
Anticipated to produce two million tonnes of green ammonia per year once at full scale, the project is expected to require a capital investment of $10bn – around 80% of Namibia’s GDP – creating 15,000 jobs during construction and 3,000 once fully operational.
With plans of reaching full capacity by 2030, the project will leverage around 7GW of renewable electricity generation to power approximately 3GW of electrolyser capacity.
