Hynion has agreed to offtake hydrogen from Uniper-owned OKG’s production plant in Oskarshamn, Sweden.
OKG will now be one of its main hydrogen suppliers under the new agreement, supporting Hynion’s strategy to reduce dependence on individual suppliers. The hydrogen is expected to secure the reliability of the company’s hydrogen refuelling stations.
Pink hydrogen will be produced at OKG’s nuclear power plant, which boasts one of the world’s largest boiling water reactors. The facility generated 9.2TWh of carbon-free electricity in 2023, equivalent to 6.8% of Sweden’s total electricity consumption.
