European hydrogen project, Green Hydrogen on the Blue Danube, will transport hydrogen with technology from Hydrogenious LOHC Technologies and VERBUND AG.
A Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carrier (LOHC) will play a key role in the project which was developed within the framework of the Important Projects of European Commons Interest (EPCEI).
The project envisages the establishment of a pan-European supply chain for green hydrogen in the Danube region. An electrolysis capacity of around 1.5 GW, over 80,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year are to be produced from around 2 GW of renewable energy.
The transportation of this hydrogen, across one of the oldest trade routes in Europe, will now be cost-efficient and simple with the deployment of the LOHC technology.
