Hydrogen has proved its credibility in this year’s Dakar Rally, with Gaussin Group reporting that its hydrogen-powered truck successfully completed all 12 stages of the annual race.
Marking the first ever hydrogen entry for Dakar Rally, the H2 Racing Truck raced from the Red Sea Jeddah, through the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia traversing to Hail, Al Artawiya, Al Qaisumah, Riyadh, Al Dawadimi, Wade Al Dawasir, Bisha and returning to Jeddah.
Developed by French engineering company Gaussin, and sponsored by oil company Saudi Amarco, the heavy class 8 truck was entered in the experimental category of Dakar 2022 for new clean energies, and it was designed for extreme environments.
