A hydrogen storage compression solution has been ordered for the what is believed to be the world’s first fossil-free steel plant, located in Svartöberget, Sweden.
Dubbed HYBRIT, the development is a unique pilot project for large-scale hydrogen storage, and a joint effort between Sweden’s SSAB, LKAB and Vattenfall.
Air and gas handling products provider Howden today (June 17) said it has been contracted to supply a high-pressure diaphragm compression package to seamlessly integrate the storage cycle of the hydrogen production.
