‘Hydrogen is not a panacea, but it has its place’ – Geopolitics in play at the FT Live Hydrogen Summit

Tom Dimitroff, General Counsel and Head of Strategy at CWP has told the FT Live Hydrogen Summit in London that hydrogen is not a panacea, but certainly has a place in future energy.

During the event’s first session focused on the geopolitics of hydrogen, Dimitroff said, “Hydrogen is not a panacea, but it has a place,” adding that the energy carrier has a key role to play in decarbonising industries such as steel production, new fuels in maritime.

The Head of Strategy explained that the imperative behind energy was previously focused on security of supply price, but now, “Climate change has an overriding imperative, but nonetheless, cost is going to be imperative.”
