Dr. Emma Guthrie will become the new CEO of the Hydrogen Energy Association (HEA) from January 30, 2025.
She will succeed Celia Greaves, the HEA’s founder, who led the association for two decades. Commenting on Guthrie’s appointment, she said, “This is an exciting new phase, and I am confident Emma will provide inspiration and energy as she leads the HEA forward.”
Guthrie boasts 15 years of experience at Air Products, where she held numerous positions, such as UK Business Development Manager for Hydrogen Energy Systems.
The HEA’s online statement explained that in her previous role, Guthrie “spearheaded the deployment of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and infrastructure in cities including London and Copenhagen, through the coordination of multi-stakeholder demonstration projects.”
Guthrie added, “I look forward to building on the organisation’s impressive legacy and working with members and stakeholders to accelerate the adoption of hydrogen as a key enabler of the clean energy transition.”
The incoming CEO’s statement aligns with the HEA’s recent call for strategic investments in hydrogen infrastructure in the UK.
Last week (January 10), the association suggested that the UK government’s GB Energy should invest in inland hydrogen hubs, core industrial clusters and ports to accelerate hydrogen trade.
