Hydrogen dual-fuel tugboat arrives in Port of Antwerp-Bruges

A hydrogen dual-fuel powered tugboat on Monday (October 23) arrived at its homeport of Antwerp, Belgium, ahead of final commissioning.

The CMB.TECH tugboat, dubbed Hydrotug 1, which is capable of running on both hydrogen and diesel, sailed from Oostende for the Port of Antwerp-Bruges where the vessel would undergo preparation for commissioning and operational use in the coming weeks.

Equipped with two BeHydro V12 medium speed engines and 405kg of compressed hydrogen storage, the vessel is part of the Belgian port’s plans to achieve climate neutrality by 2050.
