Long-range, autonomous beyond line-of-sight unmanned aircraft system (BVLOS) operations are set to benefit from new agreements inked today (Jan 4) between Doosan Mobility, Iris Automation and Drone America which aim to advance hydrogen fuel cell technology for drones.
Working together to integrate technologies and share operational resources to test and evaluate aircraft platforms and infrastructure to support such operations, the partnerships hope to outperform traditional lithium batteries and fossil fuel-powered systems used today.
Having manufactured fuel cell technology since 2014, Doosan is well established in the space and is already providing safe, miniaturised fuel cell-powered drones which will be focused on through the company’s new agreements.
