Paul Warton, Executive Vice President for Hydro Extrusions, said, “By removing the carbon emissions from the energy source, we will be able to produce carbon-free aluminium from recycling post-consumer scrap.”
Hydro recently signed an agreement to purchase land in Torija, with the aim of constructing a modern aluminium recycling plant, which will have 120,000 tonnes of annual capacity. Aluminium is currently responsible for around 2% of global CO2 emissions.
