Mitsui O.S.K. Lines’ (MOL’s) hybrid passenger ship, powered by hydrogen and biodiesel fuels, is set to enter commercial service in Japan in April 2024.
Named HANARIA, the vessel ordered by MOL Group company MONTENA-Sea, is currently under construction at the Hongawara Shipbuilding Co. in the Hiroshima Prefecture of Japan.
The 33-metre vessel is expected to achieve a sailing speed of around 10.5 knots while potentially producing no carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
