Hong Kong launches first hydrogen refuelling station

Hong Kong has launched its first hydrogen refuelling station at West Kowloon depot with a capacity of 500kg per day.

Speaking at the gasworld Asia-Pacific Industrial Gases Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Fiona Chin, Vice President, ESG & Impact Investing at Templewater, said, “I’m pleased to announce it is now open, following a ceremony with our Chief Executive John Lee and other government officials.

“We are trying to build the whole ecosystem. Apart from looking into HRS, we are looking at upstream technologies, to production, distribution and application and utilisation. We want to develop an investment strategy which is dedicated to hydrogen and its value chain. We do have a view that the hydrogen vehicle market will ramp up in the next three to five years.”

“We are now having a deep dive analysis for an alkaline electrolyser start-up, which has the highest efficiency world at 95% – normally it’s 75%. This will achieve an LCOH of US$2 per kg.”
