Honeywell has announced the European launch of what it says is the “world’s first” 100% hydrogen-capable diaphragm gas meter to future-proof gas grids.
Having successfully been piloted in the Netherlands, the EI5 smart gas meter is capable of measuring both hydrogen and natural gas. Honeywell says the technology eliminates the need for future replacements as natural gas grids transition to hydrogen.
Tested and certified by Physikalisch-Technische Bundesandstalt (PTB), the meters were trialled in a Dutch pilot programme in Wagenborgen to convert a gas network to hydrogen for heating.
