Honeywell has developed a new suite of technology, featuring 600W and 1200W hydrogen fuel cells, to help light drones fly three times longer with less human intervention.
Unveiling its Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) suite on Wednesday (August 18), the US-based company said that the technologies can help drones fly further, carry more weight, avoid hazards up to three kilometres away and stream progress videos anywhere in the world.
The technologies draw upon Honey’s experience of building and certifying avionics, engines, and APUs for airplanes, helicopters and military drones. Alongside hydrogen fuel cells, the BVLOS suite also features a multipurpose radar, inertial measurement units and a satellite transceiver.
