Honda has today (November 30) announced it will produce an all-new hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) based on its Honda CR-V at its Performance Manufacturing Centre (PMC) in Marysville, Ohio, US from 2024.
According to Honda, the CR-V-based FCEV will come as the first North American production vehicle to combine a plug-in feature with FCEV technology in one model, which it says will enable EV driving around town with the flexibility of fast hydrogen refuelling for longer trips.
In 2021, the company announced it would stop production of its Clarity Fuel Cell and Clarity Plugin Hybrid models, however, confirmed to H2 View that FCEVs will play a key role in its zero emissions strategy.
