HNOI secures hydrogen offtake deal for Texas production facility

HNO International (HNOI) has signed a hydrogen offtake deal with a Texas-based mobility company, projecting up to $10m in contracts from its 1.25MW Scalable Hydrogen Energy Platform (SHEP).

HNOI has agreed to provide an unnamed Texas-based company with a supply of hydrogen for its Class 8 fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs).

H2 View understands that HNOI’s hydrogen production platform in Houston can produce up to 500kg of green hydrogen per day.

“The agreement also integrates HNOI’s Compact Hydrogen Refuelling system (CHRS) for refuelling support,” the company wrote online. “With room for expansion, HNOI is projecting to reach nearly $10m in multi-year contracts as HNOI rapidly scales hydrogen production within the first year of operation.”

Don Owens, Founder and CEO of HNOI, claimed the agreement highlights the “growing demand” for clean hydrogen fuel in heavy-duty transportation.

“Our SHEP system and CHRS refuelling stations provide reliable, scalable solutions for long-haul operations, helping reduce the environmental impact of freight mobility,” Owens added.

The offtake agreement builds on last year’s plan to develop the 500kg-per-day SHEP facility. The plant was produced in collaboration with Element One Energy and Pneumatic and Hydraulic Company.

Last February, HNOI confirmed to H2 View that the electricity will be sourced from the grid using “green tags” and the site will be operated during off-peak hours.

Texas has launched multiple initiatives to support hydrogen-powered fleet adoption, with fleet operators like Hyroad Energy and Talke Logistics leading the transition.

H2 View has reached out to HNOI for further comment on the offtake deal.
