Despite ambitions to become one of Europe’s most affordable green hydrogen producers, Spain’s three European Hydrogen Bank (EHB)-funded projects will still deliver hydrogen at a significant premium, according to Rystad Energy.
The pilot EHB round selected initiatives in Spain, Portugal, Finland and Norway, to receive almost €720m ($772m) in subsidies – with projects set to gain less than €0.5/kg of hydrogen to bridge the cost gap with fossil fuels for 10 years.
