Hexagon Purus has agreed to provide hydrogen fuel storage systems to a US-based heavy-duty transit bus manufacturer, GILLIG.
Hexagon will deliver the solutions from its facility in Westminster, the US, under the long-term agreement.
In April (2024), GILLIG announced it would expand its product line-up with hydrogen fuel cell-powered vehicles, which H2 View understands will use Ballard Power Systems’ fuel cell system. These buses are expected to begin production in 2026.
GILLIG’s Vice-President of Product Planning and Strategy, Ben Grunat, claimed the introduction of a hydrogen-powered fuel cell bus showcases the company’s commitment to sustainable transportation technologies.
