A new utility-scale solar-to-hydrogen plant, set to produce close to 15 tonnes of green hydrogen annually, is under development in Portugal.
Part of Fusion-Fuel’s H2Evora project, based in the Évora region of Portugal, the development will utilise a 200kW Ballard FCwave™ fuel cell module which will be powered by green hydrogen from a new HEVO electrolyser.
Developed by Fusion-Fuel, the HEVO electrolyser is able to be mass produced and can be combined with a high-efficiency solar cell, attached to a specially designed concentrated photovoltaic (CPV) solar panel, in order to leverage the sun’s energy for production of green hydrogen.
By attaching the HEVO electrolyser directly to the CPV solution, very high solar-to-electric conversion is enabled, while also generating heat that improves efficiency of the HEVO electrolyser.
