H2Accelerate welcomes TEAL Mobility to boost hydrogen refuelling

TEAL Mobility has become the eighth member of the H2Accelerate collaboration as it looks to ensure the deployment of hydrogen refuelling infrastructure throughout Europe.

The Air Liquide and TotalEnergies joint venture (JV) aims to deploy more than 100 refuelling stations for heavy-duty vehicles on major European corridors over the next 10 years.

It has already implemented plans to operate around 20 facilities in France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany by the end of this year.

The development of hydrogen refuelling infrastructure aligns with the H2Accelerate’s “ambitions to accelerate the uptake of green hydrogen for trucking in Europe, by bringing together hydrogen vehicle manufacturers and infrastructure providers.”

Commenting on its entry to H2Accelerate, Florentin de Loppinot, TEAL Mobility CEO, said, “We believe the best way to shape the hydrogen future is to realise it.

“This is best achieved through a collaborative effort between refuelling infrastructure providers and vehicle OEMs, to create the complementary growth of both supply and demand that is needed to make hydrogen trucking viable.”

Hannah Bryson-Jones, Spokesperson for the H2Accelerate collaboration, added, “TEAL Mobility is dedicated to establishing a pan-European hydrogen refuelling network, an ambition which is exactly aligned with those of the H2Accelerate collaboration.

“A collective effort is crucial to accelerate the deployment of green hydrogen for trucking.”

Speaking to H2 View this year (2024), CEO Loppinot said the real challenge for the JV will be progressing from 20 stations up to 100 within the next decade.

He said, “The pace at which we grow from 20 to 100 will be determined by not only our self-help programmes and our own projects but how quickly transporters, shippers and truck manufacturers make their own decisions and decide to develop hydrogen mobility together with us.”
