H2 View webinar to tackle electrolyser degradation challenges

Understanding electrolyser degradation is pivotal for OEMs in the hydrogen industry and will be discussed during H2 View’s upcoming webinar, sponsored by James Cropper.

The free-to-attend webinar being held next Friday (October 11) will explore why it is crucial to understand electrolyser degradation when ensuring the efficiency and longevity of hydrogen production systems.

James Cropper’s Chief Technology Officer, Dr. David Hodgson, will be joined by Gurjant Randhawa, the President and CEO of anion exchange membrane (AEM) electrolyser developer Cipher Neutron.

The two speakers will give valuable insights into best practices for maintenance, the latest technology and how performances can be optimised.

They will analyse the primary causes of degradation and how they impact hydrogen production; how performances can be measured and managed to minimise degradation; and what latest advancements can be implemented to extend the lifetime of an electrolyser.

gasworld and H2 View’s Content Director and Broadcast Journalist, Rob Cockerill and Thomas Dee, will host the upcoming webinar.

As 2030 targets loom closer and developers ramp up production, demand for electrolyser equipment is surging.

However, the hydrogen industry may soon face an oversupply. H2 View highlighted projections suggesting a potential 61GW surplus of electrolysers.

BloombergNEF reported that 71GW of electrolyser manufacturing is scheduled to be online globally by the end of the year, despite demand projected to reach just 10GW in 2025.

A significant amount of electrolyser supply is expected to come from China. In response, the European Commission recently implemented strict electrolyser equipment in its second European Hydrogen Bank (EHB) auction to secure domestic supply.

Under the terms and conditions, bidders must prove that no more than 25% of electrolyser stacks can be sourced from China.

Hosted on gasworld.tv, the webinar is scheduled to begin at 14:30 on Friday, October 11, 2024.
