Ion Fuel LLC has launched H2 Grills, a subsidiary dedicated to developing technology for hydrogen-fuelled barbeque systems.
The systems will use Ion Fuel’s patented on-site hydrogen production system to make it an affordable, safe hydrogen system that can be adopted for most barbeques currently available on the market.
According to the statement released by Ion Fuels, the system will leave “no unnatural taste of gas in your cooked foods.” H2 View understands the hydrogen-fuelled grills will be available to customers by early 2025.
Ion Fuel’s solutions are expected to “significantly reduce the cost of hydrogen access and support the replacement of fossil fuels in many applications across industries and products,” according to William Green, the company’s CEO.
“We are taking our hydrogen production system, and applying it to the world of barbeques. Not only is hydrogen an excellent fuel for cooking, but it is true green energy that is now available and affordable for everyone.”
Jeff Basford, Ion Fuel’s Chief Operating Officer (COO), added, “Our hydrogen generator operates on solar, wind or plug power, using only distilled water to produce true green hydrogen, which is then used to fuel your barbeque grill.
“We are seeking partners to assist in developing the barbeque grill component of our system. Our goal is to work with barbeque manufacturers to adapt our system to their current product lines.”
Hydrogen use in homes has become a heavily debated prospect in the industry, with the use of hydrogen to heat homes being one of the most divisive topics.
Last month (May), the UK Government confirmed a hydrogen heating town pilot trial will not be carried out until after a 2026 decision on the role of hydrogen in heating has been made.
