H2 Green Steel has signed a seven-year binding agreement with automotive industry supplier ZF for the supply of its hydrogen-produced steel, valued at €1.5bn ($1.6bn)
German-based ZF processes around two and a half million tonnes of steel per year globally for its passenger and commercial vehicle systems, and the new agreement is expected to cover a “significant share” of the company’s annual steel volumes.
With deliveries of H2 Green Steel’s hydrogen-produced steel planned to begin in 2026, the agreement is anticipated to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by around 2.3 million tonnes, compared to traditional steelmaking.
