GreenGo secures 100,000 hectares for scaled-down Mauritania hydrogen plant

GreenGo Energy has been granted access to 100,000 hectares of land to develop its large-scale Megaton Moon Green Hydrogen Project in Mauritania, having downsized plans by over 80%.

The Danish developer signed an agreement with the African nation’s energy and petroleum minister for the land near Nouakchott, where it now intends to build 13.1GW of wind and solar capacity to power 6GW of electrolysis.

However, it originally unveiled plans to build 60GW of renewables capacity and 35GW of electrolysis to produce 18 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of green ammonia.
