The New South Wales Government in Australia has today approved Jemena’s $15m Western Sydney Green Gas (WSGG) Project – Australia’s largest hydrogen demonstration project.
As part of the WSGG project, Jemena will utilise solar and wind power to generate hydrogen gas which will be used for cooking, hot water, and heating across Jemena’s New South Wales gas network.
Co-funded by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), the project will see the first electrolyser in New South Wales installed later this year to generate hydrogen from solar and wind power.
The project will also evaluate the application of hydrogen in the transport sector as well as the storage capabilities of Jemena’s New South Wales gas distribution network.
