The development of a green hydrogen valley in Chile is feasible with the potential to be hugely beneficial for communities and the environment, according to a new Anglo American study.
The study, which began in April, was carried out in collaboration with the Hydrogen Technologies Unit of the Catholic University of Chile.
Its findings suggest that the development of a green hydrogen valley (H2V) in eight areas in the central zone of Chile could result in initial investment of at least $3.5bn and generate around 10,000 jobs.
The study also estimated that the introduction of green hydrogen on a large scale in the central zone would displace around 3,000 ktons of CO2 per year, equivalent to taking 850,000 cars out of circulation.
