A Portuguese-based joint venture, revealed last Friday (July 22), plans to develop a ‘world-class’ facility for industrial-scale production of e-sustainable aviation fuels (e-SAFs) based on green hydrogen and biogenic carbon dioxide.
P2X-Portgual, the newly announced joint venture between The Navigator Company and Hamburg-based P2X-Europe which could see 80,000 tonnes of renewable power-to-liquid products produced per year, reducing up to 28,000 tonnes of annual carbon emissions.
Estimated to cost between €550-600m ($563-614m) in capital expenditure (capex) alone, the Figuera da Foz, Portugal based facility will comprise of green hydrogen production and biogenic carbon dioxide capturing equipment with an annual production capacity of 40,000 tonnes.
