Great Wall Motors announced on Monday (29th March) its intention to create the “world’s first” C-Class hydrogen fuel cell SUV as well as plans to roll out a fleet of 100 49 tonne hydrogen fuel cell heavy trucks.
China’s top pickup truck maker said it’s aiming to transition into fuel cell technology along with FTXT Energy.
The two companies have launched a vehicle-level hydrogen power system solution called ‘Hydrogen Lemon Technology’ which borrows part of the name from Great Wall’s well known ‘Lemon Platform’.
It is expected this technology will be integrated into the new hydrogen fuel cell SUV to become the car manufacturer’s first venture into hydrogen fuel cell trucks.
