Local and regional governments in Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Norway, along with six private companies, want to see the development of a connected network of hydrogen stations from Hamburg to Oslo.
In a move to try and accelerate the roll-out of zero emission vehicles, the group, dubbed STRING, on Wednesday (Jan 19) applied for European Union funding for the roll-out of multiple stations that will support fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs).
If funding is approved, the GREATER4H will go ahead. On top of the requested capital, the consortium will also invest in the fuelling station network themselves.
