It was set to be a “groundbreaking partnership” in which General Motors (GM) would engineer, homologate, validate and build Nikola Corporation’s hydrogen-powered truck, Badger.
But this all came crashing down on Monday when GM announced a stripped-down agreement with the Arizona-based hydrogen truck startup.
In a statement, GM said it will no longer take an 11% stake in Nikola and it won’t build the Badger pickup. Instead, GM will offer Nikola its hydrogen fuel cell technology.
Nikola has now pulled the plug on the Badger.
