GKN Hydrogen has been awarded a contract to install two of its metal hydride hydrogen storage units with a combined capacity of 500KG to the Technical University of Braunschweig Research Airport in Germany.
Set to form part of a €20m ($21.9m) German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) “hydrogen terminal project,” the units will be installed in December (2023) and gradually come into operation in 2024.
The research project, being undertaken by Steinbeus Innovation Center energy plus and the Technical University of Braunschweig, plans to explore hydrogen production, storage and distribution, as well as refuelling for trucks and fuel cells.
