GKN Hydrogen has been selected to receive part of $8m for an innovative hydrogen storage subsystem project being developed with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).
The project aims to validate and demonstrate the dynamic operation of a 520kg hydrogen metal hydride storage subsystem integrated with the Advanced Research on Integrated Energy Systems (ARIES) mega-watt scale hydrogen capabilities.
$1.7m of the funding allocation will go to this project and will look to add two HY2MEGA metal hydride hydrogen storage tanks to the hydrogen assets at the ARIES facility at the NREL’s Flaitron’s Campus near Boulder, Colorado.
