Global Energy Ventures (GEV) has received approval in principle (AIP) for the containment system of its compressed green hydrogen ship, based on a cargo capacity of 2,000 tonnes of hydrogen.
Granted by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), the C-H2 ship is a first-of-its-kind for the marine transport of large-scale volumes of hydrogen.
ABS issued the AIP following an engineering review which confirmed the C-H2 ship had no “unresolvable or unmitigable risks” during the investigation.
