Germany has signed off €4.6bn of funding for 23 green hydrogen projects under the Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI) scheme.
The projects cover up to 1.4GW of hydrogen production capacity, 370GWh of hydrogen storage, 2,000km of pipelines and the use of liquid organic hydrogen carriers (LOHC) for the transport of 1,800 tonnes of hydrogen per year.
70% of the funding will be provided by the federal government, while the states of Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia and Micklenburg-Western Pomerania will contribute 30% for the projects in their states.
