Approval of new hydrogen funding has been halted by Germany’s transport ministry amid investigations into alleged nepotism by officials.
The Ministry of Digital Affairs and Transport (BMDV) on Wednesday (February 21) said, “No new funding notices may be approved or new contracts entered into until further notice.”
It comes after Minister Volker Wissing sacked the head of the BMDV’s Hydrogen and Fuel Cells in Mobility department, Klaus Bonhoff, last week. This was after allegations made in the German press said Bonhoff had diverted funding to a hydrogen project where a personal connection was a beneficiary.
