A hydrogen fuel cell composite testbed for up to 1.5MW of power will be developed by the German Aerospace Center’s BALIS project enabling the testing of hybrid, hydrogen, and electric drive concepts for aircraft.
Being developed as part of AVL’s contribution to the BALIS project, with the company calling this the “world’s first’ test field for fuel cell propulsion systems in the megawatt range providing the initiative with sufficient capacity to explore hydrogen propulsion.
