Gentari has agreed to supply renewable power to AM Green Ammonia (AMG) under a new binding Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
Through its subsidiary Gentari Renewables India, 650MW of “round-the-clock” solar and wind energy will be delivered to AMG’s planned green hydrogen-based ammonia facilities.
Gentari is expected to set up 2400MWp of renewable energy capacity in India and integrate it with 320MW energy storage to support AMG with green energy. H2 View understands that the firm will execute the project in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
“The solar project will be constructed at a single location and the wind projects will be spread across multiple locations connected through the inter-state transmission system network,” explained Navjit Gill, Country Head for India at Gentari.
The deal ensures a continuous supply of power on an hourly basis to meet the “demanding requirements” of a green ammonia plant. Additionally, the power arrangement complies with the Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin (RNFBO) framework, enabling potential exports to Europe.
Gentari has stated it will also “develop supply chains” to connect the green molecules with demand centres whilst also undertaking efforts to expand downstream solutions.
Gill continued, “This will be a one-of-its-kind project, integrating with energy storage to supply firm and dispatchable green energy to AMG facilities.”
Mahesh Kolli, founder of Greenko Group and AM Green, added, “We are committed to contributing to India’s ambition of emerging as a green energy exporter and are targeting five tonnes per year of green ammonia capacity by 2030.”
Last September, German energy firm RWE agreed to purchase up to 250,000 tonnes of green ammonia from AMG, starting in 2027.
