GenCell Energy has been selected to deploy its hydrogen-based DC backup solutions for Comisión Federal de Electricidad® (CFE), Mexico’s largest state-owned utility.
Sharing details of the agreement, the Israel-based company said it will deliver and provide two years of service and maintenance of 37 hydrogen-based fuel cells to substations across Mexico.
The deal is valued at approximately $6m, and according the terms of the tender, CFE has the right to purchase up to a total of 74 units, thus increasing the value of the deal to approximately $12m.
Delivery and deployment are planned for the first half of 2021.
