GenCell Energy’s hydrogen fuel cell solution, the GenCell G5 Long-Duration UPS, will provide backup power at a mission-critical field site in Israel, the fuel cell energy solutions specialist said today (12th Jan).
The announcement follows a permit awarded from the State of Israel’s Electric Authority which authorises the use of the solution at a mission-critical facility. The permit is the first of its kind in Israel for a power generator that is fuelled by hydrogen.
“GenCell is extremely pleased to receive the first-ever permit from the Israeli Ministry of Energy to authorise the use of a hydrogen fuel cell solution to supply backup power to a mission-critical application, thus being formally recognised as a satisfactory alternative to traditional fossil fuel backup power generators,” said Rami Reshef, CEO, GenCell Energy.
“In a world beset by the dire challenges of climate change and global warming, when every passing moment makes it more difficult to stop the rising temperature of our planet, it is critical that we make every effort to eliminate all sources that contribute to the emissions that pollute our environment and overheat our atmosphere – causing pandemics, tropical storms, droughts, wildfires and other severe climate calamities that destroy property, interrupt orderly operations and endanger lives.”
