GE has revealed today (March 29) it has commenced a hydrogen plant readiness assessment of Kent, UK’s Grain power station owned by Uniper, which could soon introduce hydrogen blends of up to 40%.
GE’s plant assessment at Grain will seek to develop detailed solutions to enable the 1,365MW combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) plant to use blends of hydrogen up to 40% by volume, which could lower carbon emissions and help achieve Uniper’s decarbonisation target.
This could be a huge boost to the UK’s decarbonisation ambitions and additionally could support the company in transitioning to hydrogen solutions.
