Gas Goes Green: The network plan to deliver net zero

The UK’s five gas network operators have this week unveiled a plan to create the world’s first net zero gas network – and hydrogen is at the centre of it.

Led by the Energy Networks Association (ENA), the major programme dubbed Gas Goes Green brings together National Grid, Wales & West, Northern Gas Networks, Cadent and SGN.

Building on the foundations of the existing grid infrastructure, innovation projects and the wider scientific community, Gas Goes Green is a blueprint to meet the challenges and opportunities of climate change, delivering net zero in the most cost effective and least disruptive way possible.

The UK’s gas networks are already at the forefront of efforts to explore and develop the role of hydrogen and smart technologies on the gas system.
